Feeling Younger and Having More Energy and Love after 50

As I was bouncing around to what constitutes dancing for me these days at a Coral Reefer Band concert to Jimmy Buffett’s “Fins,” adding arm movements at the appropriate times, a woman in front of our lawn “seats” turned around, looked in my eyes and exclaimed over the loud music, “You’re adorable.”

That’s never happened to me before at a concert or anywhere else for that matter!

Otto and I, along with my sister and her husband, were at the Doobie Brothers and Coral Reefer Band concert in Riverbend in Cincinnati, Ohio a couple of weekends ago when I met this woman in a most unusual way.

She went on the say that she liked my hair, my eyes and my skin and when Otto told her that I was 79 years old, she was astounded and shouted over the music “How do you do that? I want to be you at your age!”

I told her it was all about love–loving yourself and loving others.

She hugged me, seemed to take that in, and cuddled up to her husband for the rest of the concert.

After that encounter, I realized that I had a lot to say about staying healthy and vibrant after 50, 60, 70 or even 80 years old. I also realized that beneath this woman’s comments was something deeper.

She wanted to believe in the possibility of being vibrant, alive and healthy at any age.

When she asked how I managed to look and feel good at my age, I could have answered her in a hundred different ways, including (as one friend said) I was a “cougar” who married a man who’s 16 years younger than me.

If we hadn’t been in the middle of the concert, I could have talked about consistently focusing on health and vitality, having a deep curiosity about growing mentally and emotionally, meeting new people, learning to listen to myself and how to communicate with love. And so much more.

What I’ve come to realize is that any woman can start where she is, feel younger and have more energy to live the life she wants at any age.

Since I’m 79 years old and have a few things to share, if you’re intrigued how this may help you regain vitality in your relationships and yourself, contact me here and we’ll talk.
